Historic preservation is a domain that I claim no expertise in. I do, however, appreciate its importance. Appropriate preservation of historic sites is central to the nurturing and sustaining of public and private sensibilities about a locale–“place.”

Here is a new National Park Service report indicating some of the fruits from tax incentives that accompany historic preservation:
