The Pilgrimage Tradition

May 26, 2013

Buffalo Doug

A couple of weeks ago I noted a contemporary pilgrimage by a friend (he has completed it, despite hills, weather, and Achilles heel).

NPR has a story on the renewal of pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Christians have journeyed to this place for some 1,200 years. For some today (and no doubt earlier, too), the pilgrimage there is more a social and cultural thing, but for many, it is still a spiritual discipline. You can read about it (and listen to the story) here.

Are there sites around northwest Iowa that could become places of pilgrimage?
