Here’s a finely tuned reflection on the rocks and following Jesus, written by new blogger Rachel Charles.

Rocks Crying Out

As Jesus rode into Jerusalem among the shouts of praise from people and was told to rebuke his disciples for it, he said, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” It’s a peculiar statement that is sometimes difficult to comprehend. Until I experienced it myself.

My family spent over a decade living on the Navajo reservation, the tribe of my husband and now my children. We gained some valuable cultural understandings and some special relationships. But, by and large, life for us in this location had its fair amount of struggles – isolation, financial hardship, loss of friendships, and a tough accident. The majority of those around us were reeling through their own hardships, as is life on native reservations in America. The collective struggles made life hard for everyone.
